I got a chink B1 rep and it's dripping coolant from under the pullstart cover. I pulled the cover, flywheel, belt, and pump pulley off and the belt is elongated in one area and the pump shaft is almost completely locked up, and the shaft is rotating inside the bearing inner.

My guess is the pump bearing is stuffed. There's a circlip over the bearing which I removed, but a tug on the shaft wont budge it.

How do I get the coolant pump out?

many thanks,
Steve

Hi Db,

Have a look at this link, Ray spent a bit of time on his B2 waterpump.

I think you'll have to split the cases.

ciao.

Thanks BigAl. We are looking at buiding the bike into modified (dunno HOW modified yet) so I might split it and do bearings and seals anyway.

Right, I split the crankcases and the waterpump bearing is locked solid. This destroyed the pump belt and overheated the engine.

Piston has scoring on the exhaust side. Rings are fucked. Bore is lightly scored on the exhaust side, so thats the end of that.

It COULD go back together, but considering that this was supposed to be rebuilt into a modified-class bike, I dunno if there would be any point trying to salvage it. I'd rather keep it as spares for the other standard B1.

So I will move this project to here ;
