From Harold this morning:

ACC levies to leap after $4.8b loss

"...Levy payers can expect "substantial" rises, particularly for the motor vehicle and earners accounts. Substantial meant more than 10 per cent, Judge said. ACC will begin consultation on next year's increases next week..."

This will make our current rego's look cheap by comparison. And it's just the beginning

I like the comment about encouraging more "personal responsibility" - aka, trying to stop people milking the system.

The deficit is huge and they need to do something about it.

Raising the levies isn't going tio fix the problem.

The open facility for many to exploit and abuse ACC is the problem.

The private health service have been milking this B I G T I M E

It is about time the board of ACC took some responsibility for their own ineptitude.

When has raising the cost of anything solved a problem?
What I cant understand is...why, way back when we had a more dare I say it, socialist system that our little ole land could afford to pay to build roads ,dams, fund a health system on a tax rate that was a fair bit lower than today?
So "they" decided in thier wisdom to come up with this user pays system & its all been down hill from there.....
Also I cant understand is why we have to get foreign companies to do all the development in this country & yet we are happy to invest all our all our Superfund in dodgey overseas investments...why the fuck dont we invest it all here instead of multi nationals who only pay a pittance in tax at a rate far lower than you or I....:Oi::mad:
Sorry, but its my pet rant at the mo....

They used to be able to afford all that stuff with little tax cos they borrowed money from other countries... ooops... left us with a huge national debt.

But as far as all the welfare in this country goes, they need to sort something out. How come people on the dole are ending up in hospital with alcohol poisoning? Why are they getting alcohol in the 1st place?

These same sort of people probably milk ACC for all it's worth too...

The big issue is the non-earner account. Labour hiding the fact that this account was $1.5billion dollars in deficit at election time wasn't a good start. ACC giving $$$$ to people who don't contribute to the system and then compensating by increasing the levies of those that do is ridiculous!!
However, I guess it's not a lot worse than free money for people who don't have jobs and can't be bothered trying to get a job (I'm fully in favour of the dole for people who need it but are actively looking to get a job) and tax for those who work hard to provide themselves and their families with good lives.
I'd like to see how many people "can't work" and are on ACC cos they have a sore back. And I'd also like to see how many people have been caught out by ACC investigators doing cash jobs under the table labouring while on the 'sore back' benefit for the rest of their lives. Obviously there are plenty of people whose backs are fuct and probably more people know someone or are one of these in a community of bikers but the bludgers that can't be bothered getting a job cos they're on a good things really piss me off :argue::spanking: A what point does socialism cross over into communism?
LOL. Rant over. Time for a beer

Communism picks up when Socialism closes the Electoral Office...
Socialism attempts to stay in power by (blatant) vote buying, Communism stays in power by being the only party to pick from.
