has anyone tried to extract some performance from a Ninja 250. What have you done and what were the HP gains? --Not interested in making one sound better just finding the 5-10 missing ponies

Throw a GPZ400 motor in it?

A modern Parralell twin 250 has bugger all potential eh.

yea but the GPZ250 puts out 5 more HP so its gotta be there somewhere.

It will be emission requirements regulated - so whatever theyve done to reduce emissions. Most likely exhaust and fuelling?

Basically pod filters (http://faq.ninja250.org/wiki/Do_K%26N_pods_provide_a_significant_improvement_in _horsepower%3F) + exhaust (http://faq.ninja250.org/wiki/Exhaust) and a fiddle with the carbs.

I was being a bit obtuse sorry. The 87-99 gpx250 puts out about 5hp more than the new Ninja 250.
I'm guessing thats found in the cam and ignition timing as well as restrictionsin the exhaust. does anyone know the actual differences in engine setup?

I think the exhaust is a bit restrictive but not 5hp more restrictive. The main change has been to the cam profile. IIRC they sacrificed high end HP to achieve better low-midrange torque :sunny:

Intake, exhaust + shimming needles. Thats the road I am taking. Good enough for now.
