When TT racer Maria Costello was held up in traffic as she headed to Buckingham Palace to pick up her MBE, there was only one thing to do… jump on a motorbike.
Costello – who holds the record for being the fastest woman round the Isle of Man TT circuit – contacted her friend who works for Virgin taxi bikes. She said “We got stuck in traffic so my friend who works for Virgin taxi bikes took me. You wear an apron so my modesty was preserved. I did change my heels into flats though."
"I wanted to come by motorbike but not like that," she joked.
