carrying on , upon stripping the rhs engine cover i discovered metal mince !!. this is about 30 % of the main crank bearing,

this would explain
hard to start
the bad running
the stalling with an air filter on
the in ability to pop the front wheel up
the extended timing chain adjuster by 5.5 mm
i think i now need another bike as it will be to exp to repair
rip the dr:weep:

i may not buy a suzi next time,

Bugger mate!
Hope your lesson wasn't too darn expencive......

Amazing that they covered up a buggered main bearing by extending the cam chain adjuster! Truly Amazing.

The DR's were a good little bike in their day... No XR, but a good little bike.
Passenger foot rests on the swing arm were a problem. When the doing got rough and your pax lost their footing, it just about binned you both!

The problems you got would happen to any bike that was abused.... Do, don't be too afraid of the Suzukis.

103 isn't too bad for the old girl... How did you manage that with a broken bearing one has to ask.....
Solid little motor after all.....

You know, you should look around for a bigger motor and........ OR, Shoehorn an RGV engine in it, and motard it! Yamaha did with their TDR (TZR powered off roader)....

370? Would be a 350 with a big bore kit.

Not 100% sure if it will slot straight in, but you can fit anything to anything... Just a matter of how clever you are with a welder.
Best get out a tape measure and get some dimensions of the two motors.

As for going alright, well so long as the cam chain tensioner hasn't been modified ;) and it is making compression, it will do way better wheel stands than the 250.
