just picked up another engine, suzi, says 369cc on the side of the pot.

the engine no is 106276

apparently had only 1300 miles on the clock, yes miles not kms.

any idea on the age from the engine no

it has no de comp lever so was a real leg braker to start apparently.
will make it fit in the dr 250 frame

it would appear it is a sp 370 from the 70's, a classic.
puts out 27 hp. 10 more thann the old dr 250.
hope it fits eh!!
hope it goes as well!!!!!!!

Was going to say if it is 370, then it is from the early 70's.

I initially thought it was a rebored 350, I know, but that was before you saw the 369cc stamp...

It is a classic old motor, and I hope it goes well for you.. this time.

took about 8 hrs to get the engine in and running,
engine still runs points !! not cdi
got spark and put old carb off dr for a start , as original carb needs a good clean up.
started on 5th kick,
couldnt beleive it, chain fitted , exhaust is different as is a single port,
put short pipe on for a test ride,
went well without really opening it right up, other than hot as leg due to exhaust, feel like burt munro a bit!!!

any way stamped on old frame it came with is dr370 106457, ?
any ideas, it is definately old schooll due to rounded engine casings etc

could still be a sp 370 tho ? W

As far as I can tell from Mr Google the DR was the "off road" version, and the Sp the roadie. Looking at pics the only difference I can spot is the llights.

Check out this link http://motorbikearchives.com/Bike-Tests/Trail/Suzuki-DR370-1978.html

Guy at Suzuki shop may well be under 45... therefore no recollection of such an engine ;)

Will be cool when you get it all sorted.....
To eliminate the shake, you might have to look at some rubber mounting of the engine, OR blocks of weight around the pegs and handlebars.....
Vibes can quickly cause metal fatigue, not to mention rider fatigue....
