Stephen Mower faced six months laid up in bed when he crushed vertebrae and fractured his spine when a stunt on his motocross bike went wrong. But thanks to a new procedure he was back in action after only three weeks.
The new procedure involves inflating a balloon to restore the vertebrae to their original shape. Once this is done, a ‘cement-like’ substance is injected into the space.
Mr Mower, 52, from Stirling, said "After the accident I was stuck in my bed unable to move without pain shooting through my body. But now I'm brand new and fit as a fiddle. I can even touch my toes which I've not been able to do since I was in my 20s."
