Hi all, I'm looking for a cheap web host...I need about 15-20Mb of space.
It's been suggested that I find a US provider but I'm not so sure.
Anyone got any suggestions?

I've used www.hostme.co.nz which I thought were bloody good.
Could always ask your ISP, check out the back pages of NetGuide, or others will stick their 2¢ in too..

Cheers.
Looks like HostMe's $5 plan will be the way to go.
Unless someone else has another suggestion????

Thanks Blakamin, but I've just had a quick look on the Paradise site and it looks like it costs $10 per month to point a URL at the host.
Cheers anyway.
Homepages hosting You receive 10MB of server space free with any Cable, Paradise ADSL, Jetstart, Paradise 150 or Paradise 250 plan. To have a domain name pointed at that rather than the default URL (http://homepages.paradise.net.nz/username/) it will cost $10 every 28 days. There are a number of restrictions on this however; upload access to the site is restricted to paradise.net connections, only one homepages site is permitted per paradise.net account, the site cannot be too busy and you can have only static pages.

I have cable thru Paradise and host my stuff here on my own 'server'. Dyndns.org take care of the DNS for free.

Send me a PM telling me what your going to put on the site. As long as it isn't illegal (funnily enough I can host porn, [long story there]) and you don't suck through more than a giga of bandwidth a month I'll host you.

Thanks anyway but I bit the bullet and went with HostMe.
I must say...within a few minutes of ordering the hosting, I had an email with all of the details etc. It couldn't have been easier.
I guess all I need to do now is figure out how to point the URL there.
For anyone that's interested this (http://www.webhost-dns.net/%7Ecathtco/) is the site that I've put together for my wife.
I've still got a little bit to do but I'd be keen for any feedback.

That's a nice site. (I can't design for shit).
Keep us posted on how it goes. Hostme looks good - but I have over a gig of stuff on mine with 3 databases... That will cost me too much - $105/month (but my traffic is real low cause there's only shit on there! )

Real cool site.
Now think up some meta tags and a description. It's pretty important that the search engines find you. Then repeat the keywords in your content. Do not repeat key words if possible and if unavoidable don't repeat any word more than twice. Use synonyms from www.dictionary.com (http://www.dictionary.com), etc.
Have a look at other more extablished photograpers sites for ideas.....

Thanks for the comments everyone.
I've yet to do the metatags stuff and as the site is mainly images and not much text I don't expect it to ever rate number one on a google search.
I am quite please with the menu, I made it from scratch without out any knowledge of Flash. If any one would like the source file let me know.
Now I'm just trying to figure out the URL pointing thing, I registered the URL and then emailed them the details of the host, the dude came back saying it'll cost an extra $30 in pointing fees. I'm not even that sure if they've registered the URL yet...I'm waiting on an email back.
Keep the suggestions coming.
