This is a big bike, being ridden with consummate skill and planning. To be admired and the lines studied.

The camera bike is another Goldwing too.

The Tail of the Dragon, Deals Gap, North Carolina. There's a version of this where you can hear the pipes scraping on almost every corner.

Classic proof that it's not the amount of dog in the fight that's important.

Certainly fast but put into perspective: very good road surface, consistent road width and well marked, flowing corners, didn't appear to be any reducing radius corners like in NZ, and flat. It may have been her 100th plus time over that section of road. Nothing like practice to make perfect.

The caption of the vid I posted claims that the rider did 106 runs on that strip in 24 hours.

That road is pretty crazy... you have a lot of blind corners. I've done it by car. As far as police.... in the last couple of years they have gone completely mad with over-enforcement. It has actually hurt some of the local economy quite badly.

http://www.tailofthedragon.com/ Lots of info there and Killboy (aka Daryl, takes some cool pics)

http://www.zeefoto.com/moto.html I've met Zee, she use to live in Canada after she got married to her hubby Ben.... then they moved back to Tennessee. Anyway, some nice pictures of the area on her site.

Now this one is a riot - my friend was actually a couple of bikes back and they left him... LOL This is from like 2002 or so.

I've watched a few guys in wellington go screaming along on a Goldwing. It really shows that the better the rider the faster they go. Prime example is watching my boss toodle round every corner at 80kmp on his VFR800 and a guy on a RG150 pissing all over him.

Thats confident.. Not the first time I have seen a Goldwing hustled though. Pre youtube I was on a similar road following the shores of a Loch in Scotland on my faithful XT350 & kept hearing bursts of country & western music, much to my dismay. We eventually caught up with a Goldwing, fully tassled rider & Tammy Wynette at full blast who proceeded to show us young wannabees how to ride. No chance of getting past on the wee trailies. Lots of sparks & lots of respect from me. It's always gonna be the rider, not the bike. Sooooooo true.

I had a Wing once -the old 1000cc number. Previous bike was a CBX1000 which was no slouch in a straight line or out of a corner.
I was very pleasantly surprised by the Wings performance across country. It had plenty of very easy usable power exiting corners at any speed in it's range and it delivered high average speeds touring on UK country roads. The petrol tank was/is under the seat so the low C of G helped enormously.
Just like any bike of that vintage (remember those days) one had to be circumspect when braking into bumpy corners, especially with a bit of luggage on the rear.

Hate to say it - as it is skilled riding.
But that tape has been sped up.
Still irrelevant of the speed - that is still skilled riding.

Sped up?
How so?
The oncoming traffic still looked normal.

At 1:15 cam bike would have jack knifed
likewise 1:57, 2:51. Also notice car looks slow, then magically appears closer.

Usually happens as the frames get chopped when you compress the time-frame. e.g. go from 30 frames / sec to 35 frames / sec.

You get inconsistent 'errors' which make the footage looks like it goes fast, but then all of a sudden it feels like it stops. Especially with cheap software.

I may or may not tried to cheat with previous footage of me riding. In the past. And these were the same problems I faced. And I got schooled by those more learned that me.
The red-bull guys have some sweet software, which makes it seem almost seamless.
