Ride Fast Live Long

I was riding home this morning in the rain, and as i came upto the passing lane and went to pass, i dropped down a couple of gears and went as i usually would, when i got to 11k rpm the bike wouldnt go any further, went up a gear and the same thing happend when i hit 11k rpm and so on with the rest of the gears when i tested them. Does anyone know what could cause this? or could it just be the bike isnt liking the cold rain today? Going to take it out later and see if it still does it. so any help is much appreciated, cheers
