Biker to undertake 300 mile “hands free” ride

An American motorcyclist is to ride his Harley for 300 miles, “No hands”, to raise money for charity.

Phil Comar, 61, will ride from Michigan to the Ohio border, using just his body and legs to steer the bike. Funds raised will go to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.

Comar – whose father fell victim to the disease – said he is “skilled” at riding with no hands and “has been practicing the skill for 20 years”. An extra petrol tank has been added to the bike so that he does not have to stop during the attempt.

Surely you'd pick a better handling bike, then when you reduce your ability to handle it, it would be OK, but he's starting with a Harley?

For a predominantly straight journey, I think the choice of a long wheelbase, low center of gravity cruiser with greater straight line stability than other motorcycles would be a good choice, and harley's handle just fine. Dunno why everyone thinks they don't. :facepalm:
