UPDATE:
Will be held on Fri 25th to Sun 27th Feb, catching the ferry over to Waiheke Island.
http://www.waihekeshipping.co.nz/

The summer alternative to Cold Kiwi.

I was thinking end of Jan/early Feb when the majority of people have gone back to work and places won't be as crowded (and the weather is still warm enough to laze around in a bikini all day).

Not sure where, somewhere near a beach and nice roads.

Open to all, not just SMC.

Ideas and expression of interest?

I have gone to the cold kiwi the last two years. Go to waiheke, the roads are fun and its $45 for bike and rider on the waiheke shipping car ferry, i went last week for 5 days and had a blast.:scooter::woohoo:

I love lazing around in a bikini, I just didn't think there'd be another biker out there who'd give me permission.

I'm in!

+1 for Waiheke. Find a good camping ground near a beach and chillax.

Methinks the $45 would get used up just in materials alone for a wax job before the bikini

I was thinking somewhere in the Hawkes Bay maybe, but Waiheke could be good as well.

I wasn't aware there was an official one, couldn't find anything when I did a search for it.

The last weekend in Jan is Akl anniversary weekend, and the weekend after that is Waitangi Day, do we want to use the long weekends, or wait until after (or before)?

And is Waitangi Day observed? I can never remember.. It falls on a Sunday next year.

Looks like we are going to Waiheke :p

So, back to my question. When?

I'd be keen to go back to Waiheke. Man'O War Bay looked like a neat spot to stay.

Dont forget that there should be a northern exposure tour 2011, that is auckland anniversary weekend, last weekend of Jan, and sounds like a BLAST! But if ya do this a different weekend me and the wifey will be keen!

any weekend after the 6th of feb works well for me. I'd suggest staying away from long weekends - for booking reasons.

I agree with RM. Also my industry assignment is due on the 1st of February so I'll be pretty busy aaaall through January. I voted the 6th, but I'd be happy for any weekend after that.

Another whom has never been to Waiheke, end of Feb would definitely be perfect, although that poll before was awful. Could probably get group rates on the ferry as well.

Would also be a good excuse to go back to Part time hours before Uni as well.

I didn't think there were any camping grounds at Waiheke but lo and behold:

I know the council are really down on free camping.
