A 1955 Vincent with almost ¾ of a million miles on the clock will be auctioned at the Carole Nash International Classic Motorcycle Show.

Owner Stuart Jenkinson, from Whitley Bay, has recorded 721,703 miles across 30 different countries. Mr Jenkinson originally bought the 998cc Black Prince as a stop-gap before buying a car in 1955, for just £385. The Vincent is expected to fetch as much as £40,000.

Wonder how original it is.

If the spirit of the bike has done the distance but not the individual parts?

Bloody good going anyway

289 oil changes = 1 x 2500 miles
59 sets of tyres = 1 x 15000 miles
21000 gallons of fuel - 35mpg ( generous)
5,000,000. swear words at motorists, breakdowns, the wife.....
1,000,000 bug splats

I don't think you 'change' the oil with that vintage - it operates a constant loss system like Landrover, my fuel tank and all British bikes.

I think you're way off on the last one ... 5x more swear words than bug splats?!
