Hi

After 22 years owning a CB750F I have been looking
for a new bike and demoed a few last Saturday. In
the new bike, I am looking for better low down torque
than my 750 has and demoed a Suzuki SV1000 and
a Moto Guzzi V twin 750 . While the SV1000 had higher
vibration than my CB750 I found it quite acceptable having
owned an XL500 before the 750. However when I demoed
the Moto Guzzi 750 I found its level of vibration unacceptable
especially considering its $16,500 price tag. I would like to
know how the level of engine vibration in the SV650 would compare to the Moto Guzzi as the local Suzuki Dealer has no demo
SV650s only the 1000 and being a smaller motor than the Moto
Guzzi is the level of vibration likely to be higher.

Any advice appreciated

Thanks

Peter

Cassina,I resently read a test on the SV650,they claimed it had less vibe,s than the 1000.
Hope that helps.
Cheers.

A 90deg V twin like the Guzzi is the best naturaly balanced twin engine, but still has a secondary vibration, torque reaction will make it shake at idle too.If it's not 90deg,like the Suzuki,it will have a balance shaft - or like my Honda, which has a 45deg V,it could have a 90deg crank, which makes them as smooth as a 90deg V,but with a rocking couple waddle.

Basicaly - do you like your engines ''natural'' or engineered for consumer satisfaction. My single with a balance shaft is smoother than my hybrid V twin, kinda wierd eh?
