Hey guys I have not been on for a while as the nsr has just spent the last year or so in my garage, I needed to figure out why the bike was getting hot so finaly resorted to taking off the water pump cover to find that the impellers turned about 120degee's by hand.

I decided to pull the clutch cover off (simple task) an here is what I found!

A good laugh for you Honda haters out there "Plastic parts inside an engine!!"

The old owner gave me a later model housing with new water pump when I bought the bike so I am bloody happy I have all the bits needed to fix it.
Only down side is the gasket costs $47.50 lol.

Can you not use stag gasket goo or similar?

I want it done right since the bike is in such good condition, also the sealing face of the clutch cover looks a bit thin to use gasket goo on and I would rather it not go through the gearbox.

That plastic gear reminds me of the water pump impellers in certain german cars. BMW what were you thinking, you aren't volkswagen! They were made out of plastic and if you got 'lucky' and the pump gasket didn't spring a leak or the impeller shaft seal didn't die from age, the impeller would eventually get so brittle it'd disintegrate. That clogs the radiator/cooling system, and possibly overheats and kills your engine.

Hooray!
