Yamaha has announced a shock decision to pull out of World Superbike and World Supersport. The team will be withdrawn at the end of the 2011 season.
Eugene Laverty, Marco Melandri and Welshman Chaz Davies (who is leading the Supersports standings) may find themselves out of a job at the end of the season.
Yamaha blamed difficult market conditions in Europe for its withdrawal: "This announcement follows a full strategic review of the marketing operations within Europe including all Motorsport activities and takes into account the continuing severe and rapidly changing powered two-wheeler market conditions throughout the region."
Yamaha confirmed they will continue to make road racing kit parts available.
