The motorcycle used by ‘The Fonz’ in classic American TV show ‘Happy Days’ is going under the auctioneer’s hammer.
The bike – a Triumph Trophy TR5 - is expected to fetch £60,000 when it is auctioned in Los Angeles on 12th November. It was found in a motorcycle shop where it had been for the last 15 years, having been bought by an enthusiast who had no idea about it’s history.
The bike was once owned by Bud Ekins, who performed the famous leap in ‘The Great Escape’, adding to it’s appeal. Despite it being one of the iconic images associated with The Fonz, actor Henry Winkler was unable to ride it! Winkler admitted to being “Scared to death” of motorcycles, adding “'I don't know how to ride a motorcycle. I am scared to death of motorcycles. If there is a wall I will hit it.”
The bike is not in a rideable condition at present.
