View Full Version : Has anyone got an XR400 cam they cam measure up for me?

Hey team,

It appears that the world has run out of Honda GB400TT camshafts (no cheering you!!) and I am trying to find another cam that may, with a little machining, fill the bill. After eye balling pictures of other cams running in similar engines it looks like like the XR 400 might be pretty similar. Could some kind soul out there volunteer to photograph and measure one up for me? Or send me an old fucked one that might be lying around the shed - more than happy to pay postage. Also happy to post up the analysis for other 400 TT owners to refer to.

Cheers Kickaha appreciate that. I also need to know the basic dimmensions like;
Distances between all the main elements on the shaft is probably the most important.
Overall length.
Diameter of the shaft on the ends where it fits into the bearing races.
The dimmensions of the boss the cam chain sprocket bolts on to.

That sort of stuff would also be useful. I appreciate it is a bit of an ask.

possibly there is a downloadable or hardcopy workshop manual that may have this? I just downloaded a pdf version for my bike and it included the measurements/tolerances and dimensions of everything

I installed an XR400R hotcam into my honda cl400. Works fine.
Not sure on the GB400 but might be the same.

Unfortunately the bike has been sold and am now riding a CB600 :)
