Hero – India’s largest motorcycle manufacturer – is set to join the list of companies in the market to take over Ducati.
Hero – who dissolved a 26-year partnership with Honda in 2010 – are keen to expand their overseas interests and Ducati would fit the bill.
“Lots of people have been coming to us with Ducati -- not one banker but many bankers,” Hero’s managing director Pawan Kant Munjal said “We’re talking to a lot of people. Not just Ducati -- whoever comes to us, we talk to them.”
Hero has already entered into a partnership with Erik Buell Racing whereby they sponsor two teams in the AMA Superbike Championship in return for technology and design support.
