What's the best motor available in NZ to repower a CT110?

I'm about to get hold of an old CT110. Everything on it is in great condition, except the bottom end bearings.

Easy fix, but I'd rather get a pitbike motor.

Price? I ride these things for a living so obviously I haven't got thousands. But, I'm probably going to sell my car. Yeah, I'm an idiot.

The power from those Daytona engines is intriguing. I want to keep it on the road though so something a bit too highly strung won't suit.

ive often wondered how those engines would go for road use, theoretically the 160cc should have the torque to run highish gearing so as not to feel tooo 'buzzy' on the road. be interesting to see if they vibrate much

Lifan....
My boy had a pit bike with a Lifan 125 manual clutch 4speed..
the bike was pure crap.. But the motor was bullet proof...
I would say it's all but as good as the honda it was copyed from..
the bike is laying behind the shed under a cover... bet if I pulled it out
the motor would still go....

Definitely Lifan. The one in mine went for years without an oil change, an air filter, and love for 3 years with the previous owner. Checked valve clearances, only slightly out. New oil, starts well every time. They're basically the same engine as a honda postie bike, just bored to 125 and with worse build quality. You can pick up a 125 new from ebay shipped for around $400.

Lifan's are decent, but can be hit and miss. i know a guy who broke his within 6 months.
The Daytona (Japanese) ones are way better but more expensive.
