This may sound familiar… a major daily newspaper prints a cartoon – and the result isn’t a good giggle but protest marches anger and threats of retaliation. Only this time the target is not Mohammad, but motorcycle taxi drivers in Bangkok.

Over a hundred motorcycle taxi drivers laid siege to the offices of the Naew Na daily newspaper, angered by a photo published with a caption suggesting they had been offered cash to attend the caretaker Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra's rally.

The group, which blocked the entrance to the newspaper's offices, demanding a printed apology along with a photo of their gathering outside the publication's base. The newspaper refuses to print a retraction, but will report the groups protest.

The siege ended peacefully after four and a half hours.
