I'm curious to know how things go with the sharing of the track with the buckets? At the moment the Saturday practise days are the only time I can get out on the track as I don't have leathers to race in, yet.

Sounds a bit daunting having the prospect of getting learned by a fucken pocket bike!

Hi Swanny,
Come on over and have a look!
We can even put you in the Wobblers class (beginners).:scooter:
We make up the minimoto classes on the day according to who turns up and how experienced they are. The juniors always ride separate from the senior mini riders, but new riders and new girl riders can ride with the juniors. The buckets, pitbikes, scooters etc have their own time on the track. No mini's are allowed on the track whilst the others are riding.
If someone comes along who has never ridden before and doesnt feel confident enough to go out with anyone on the track, then we can accomodate them, by closing off the track to anyone else.
We want people to come down and have fun, not to be scared of riding.

The buckets, pitbikes, scooters etc have their own time on the track. No mini's are allowed on the track whilst the others are riding.

This sounds good.

I was dreading that they mixed the Buckets and Pocket bikes togeather.
I'll have my bucket there, need to clean the Carb first but.

Hi Wellyman,
There's a place in Manukau called TLC Bikes. 23c Norman Spencer Dr. ph 2785449. They have good bikes. Check out Trademe as they have lots of dealers on there. As soon as you get your bike, check over every scew and nut and bolt. Being Chinese these bikes are not always put together well. I do know that TLC check their bikes thoroughly.
Take your tool kit that you get with the bike to the track and some chain oil.
Keep checking your bike chain after every time on the track. Check your tyre pressure before you ride it.
We look forward to seeing you ride your own bike.

Wellyman what are you doing......9am bright and early man.

Glad to see you are coming Jimmy.

If it is raining...it is up to you if you want to ride. Be aware though that Mt Wgtn track is VERY slippery in the wet. Even with treaded tyres it is slippery.

Dont not come out though...most of Auckland can be raining but for some reason the rain will go around the track. It may have something to do with the big hill behind the track, but we are not sure on that one.

see you all tomorrow.:first:

What a cool day, thanks to Steve (Grandpa) for letting me ride (and crash) his mint pit bike. Managed to stay with all but two of the buckets and had the hell dice with another motard.

Startes getting pretty quick on the mini moto, only the Italian built critter and the B1 getting away from me. Just goes to show how a chinker aircooled can actually be a pretty competitive weapon when ridden right. Shame it chucked a chain.

Bulldog, you were getting into it quite nicely there for a first timer. Well done.

Tried to stay with the fast bikes through the corners and thought I was doing ok. My gearing is stuffed for that track though. I'm all revved out by half way down the front straight so I'll have to invest in a front sprocket ;)

Well thank you to everyone who came to the track on Saturday.

Whitetrash; Steve got taken out at the track today, from behind (not very nice)on the pitty you rode. He went straight into the tyres in the middle corner and now we gotta find new plastics, new seat and a new frame. The frame is just about snapped in half.
And to think....all you did was get a bit of dirt on it.

Yes folks Jimmy came off the Pitbike, but we didnt even see it. Bugger....missed a good laugh.

The next meeting is in July, will post the date soon.

Wouldn't be concerned about the top mount mate, my bike doesn't even have one. Also, the rattles are usually not as bad as they sound.

Hey Granma! How oftern do these run? Do they go all day or just for a few hours?

Are there any compeditive races at all? Me and a mate have Pitbikes but were thinking of getting some Slicks for them and going Mini Motarding on them! would be funn in full leathers sliding the knee's around the Gocart track! :)

If there is racing, what type of clases would we have to go in? Are there any limitations to the bikes etc?

Cheers!

Hi Arven,
If you come down on Saturday you can try out the track.
Bring as many pitty's down as you like. Road tyres are best, but slicks may work if you can find em.
You dont need a licence to have a go on saturday,it is only a practice day and just $20 for the WHOLE DAY. Sunday is competive racing, there's a few pitties, and you do need an MNZ Licence for that. You do need some sort of protective gear for both days.
Pitty's are a bit faster than the mini's, so make sure you have good boots, jacket, full face helmet, and knee pads or road pants. Leathers are good if you have them.
We dont really have classes for the different bikes, but,....on a sunday, once you hit the 34 sec lap time, you are in the A Grade. We have two pitties in the A Grade with one in 4th place on points.
If your bike is over 90cc then you are in the B Grade. Under 90cc, your in the 50cc class.
Pitties race with the buckets, but on saturday they can have there own track time. Depends on how many turn up. There's no real limits on the pitties, just so long as the bikes have all sticking out metal parts covered.
This is just in case you arse off and damage the track.
Hope to see you out there on Saturday.

This sounds like so much fun! I have told my mate about it and he is as excited as i am!

Only problem is we need to find somewhere to get us some spare wheels / tyres etc.

Who knows what size the Street magic's have? The tyres on them look pretty good? Any other recomendations on wheel sizes etc to get? We currently have a 12 on the rear and 14 on the front (or was it 10 and 12?)

Anyone know where we could get a cheap set of rims with Discs / Sprocket etc? and tyres? Preferably cheapish (as long as they dont fall to bits).

I wont be able to make it this weekend as i'm going away. But once i can find some wheels i'm dead keen! :)
