Authorities in the Vietnamese province of Ha Nam are to train poor children in motorcycle repairs to help them find employment. The class aims to help children aged between 12 to 17 years old.

With sales of small motorcycles booming in Vietnam, trained mechanics should be in demand.

Student Nguyen Anh Tuan, 15 said he left school two years ago as his family was too poor to support his and his younger sister’s education. His sister was the brighter student, so Tuan dropped out of education. The course is giving him the chance to join a profession to support himself and his family.

"I find that repairing motorbikes is a good job to earn money in my locality," he said.
