A man who bought a stolen motorbike in 1967 has confessed his crime to police in Flagstaff, Arizona… and sent a 250 Dollar cheque as compensation!

Police say an anonymous letter accompanied the cheque, which said that the letter writer’s conscious was bothering him. The letter went on to explain that he had mentioned to a friend that he wanted a motorbike, only for the friend to sell him one a short time later, telling him not to question where it came from.

The writer asked that the 250 dollars be used to educate youths "about the virtue of good citizenship."

Well, they do say it is easier to ask forgiveness than permission, but I suspect after 39 years, this man would strongly disagree.
Good on him, better late than never!

Nah, the bloke was obviously a Scotsman - bike was valued $250 at time of theft. He was just waiting for the day when $250 became an acceptable amount of cash to part with. Conveniently ensuring that the sum was neither index linked nor attracting interest.

Funny little human interest story though.

I wonder if he still had the bike, or whether he had sold it... and for how much???:blip:
