Hi

I ride a 95 Kawasaki ZX9R (B model), now the gears box is a bit crunchy going from 3rd to 4th and its also pretty easy to miss the 2nd to 3rd gearchange.

I have found out about the factory pro shift kit, which supposedly almost eliminates missed shifts. But am concerned that the crunchy 3/4 gear change may be indicating worn shift forks.

Now the shift kit requires removal of the clutch basket to fit (not so bad) but the shift forks require the engine to be removed.

Question is am I better to save the money for the shift kit fitting and go for the fork replacement at the same time, or should I try the kit by itself first?

Or should I just wait until winter and then have a go at doing the lot myself, I'm reasonably competant but am only new to NZ so don't have any mechanically minded mates that I could help me ensure I don't end up out of my depth?

Any opinions would be greatfully recieved especially from previous ZX9 owners how have done the same thing.

Also what "special" tools could I end up needing?

Cheers
