Anyone recommend someone who can rebuild the cranks in my 500 in NZ? There are reputable places in the UK, but freight is prohibitive, It really has to be someone who knows what they are doing and get it right first time!

Ginger is based at Huntly Honda, well he owns it I should say.
You also have the option of Robin Atkins at Tokoroa Motorcycles, he has all the jigs for the older Yamaha bikes as he was the local dealer untill a few months ago.

He builds the cranks for my TZ race bike and has always done a really good job with almost no run out.

Phone number is 8865702

I'm guessing no, but good information to know if you have an RZ500. Wish I still had mine, the the most charismatic bike I ever owned

Not just RZ500's. Since Barry Lynch retired, there's been a big problem in the Chch area getting cranks rebuilt.
Wallace has to my knowledge done Suzuki and Yamaha 2 stroke cranks, a load of 4 stroke singles - and even the big Suzuki GS/GSX roller cranks.
Highly recommended.
