Since getting a new motor put in my bike I'm wondering what to do with the old one. I was mabye thinking of putting a turbo onit & fixing the motor & putting it in my bike. Any ideas how much it would cost & how to do it? :)

GSXR1100 is a good choice for that, there are prefabbed kits available. Just google for GSXR1100 Turbo kits

You will need a bit more than a turbo GSXR1100 to go that fast, but it's a good place to start :yes:

Unless you've gotta a whole lot of money and the same amount of knowledge.....that aint gonna happen!

Turbo a GSXR1100 YES!!!!!:yes: Go 400k on it? Never gonna happen I'm afraid.....even turbo busas pushing 500hp struggle to do it and they're waaaay more aerodynamic.
Make Yer own kit, it's not hard.....

Beats my ambition. 200mph or 320kph.

Best so far 185mph, 292 kph

I hope you get there.

I've seen a turbo busa pull a wheelie at 340km/h so it must be able to go over 400km/h. If I turbo the gsxr I'm hoping to get 300hp with long gearing shouldn't it be possible? :(

Turbo Busa wheelie at 340km/hr? Where's the grave site?

I've posted it before and it is really getting tedious to keep bringing it up, but the relationship between speed and horsepower is NOT linear.

http://www.sportrider.com/tech/146_9510_bench/

"There is a limit to what brute power can accomplish. Even Terry Kizer's 459- horsepower ZX-11 turbo has "only" gone 230 mph, greatly due to the horrific aerodynamic drag created by its slick-looking (as motorcycles go), but not aerodynamically slick, shape. If we could, we'd be better off trying to get our bikes more compact with less frontal area to impact the wind rather than more streamlined: It's the frontal area that plays the greatest role in the overall drag equation. But, we can get only so small."

I used the calculator I used the last time this issue came up and got:

Aerodynamic HP Calculator by Bowling and Grippo
Input Parameters Are the Following:

* Coefficient of drag = 0.9
* Frontal Area = 10.00 sq feet
* Test Temperature = 70.00 degrees F
* Test Barometer = 30.00 inches Hg
* Vehicle MPH = 300

Computation Results:
Air Density Computed is 0.00233

Aerodynamic "Drag Factor" is 0.02256

Rolling "Drag Factor" is 241.90019

# Computed Aerodynamic Horsepower Required is 1625
# Computed Rolling Horsepower Required is 87
# Computed Frontal Lift Force is 173 Lbs.

You won't find many 1055cc engines that cope with 1625 HP for very long.

And the speed was shown on the speedo or a GPS unit, or on a radar or laser unit?

If it's the speedo it's at least 10% out, so he's doing 34 km/hr less than the speedo is reading. The amount of lift generated by the bottom of the fairing would be enough to make it difficult to get the front back down again too.

I'm just about crapping my pants even thinking about what that would feel like at 300km/hr plus.

What's the cost involved in getting a small turbo kit for a Busa?

Say a 300hp one...

yup yup that's it I found it. It's on the Ghost Rider Dvd it called 'the hayabusa ride' he constantly pulls weelies at 340km/h man what a feeling that would be. would have to change my pants after it though :)
