Kansas biker Buddy Armstrong has created a solar-powered bike as part of a protest at the expenditure of the Federal Energy Department. Amstrong says the agency has spent 281 Billion dollars in the past 13 years to reduce the nation's need for foreign oil. He wants to ask where the money went.

His vehicle for the journey is a solar powered bike more specifically a solar powered mountain bike with a motor. . The bike pulls a 370-pound trailer holding supplies as well as four solar panels that generate electricity. It travels at about eight miles an hour and requires pedal assistance at times (rather like a Velosolex). Armstrong estimates the 500 mile journey will take about ten days.
