Whats the difference?

Im looking into a DRZ400SM because supermotards are sexy :) (that and getting a commuter would be a good idea when i have some liquid funds)

But as per usual, im going to do my own tuning on it and i was wondering. Is there any difference between a drz400 and drz400sm engine? Cause the drz400 has screens and screens of shiny goodies for it while the drz400sm not so much. Just a couple of cams here and there...

Talk to limbimtimwim, he'll know. Maybe the non-SM has a gruntier carb on it?

If its only the carb then that can be worked out

As far as I know, the carb is a smaller (2mm? Can't remember) and is a CV carb on the SM. And there are a couple less teeth at the back. And some pillion pegs. And with the different suspension you are getting a DR-Z with better road manners.

It's a little weak really as standard.

A guy who works at wellington motorcycles has one, loud pipe, a few more teeth, the flatslide carb and a 426cc Athena big bore kit. That bike was great to ride, it made more enjoyable power.
