Hey guys, it's time for the 2nd year of the SMC, so lets continue the SMC tradition of the friday night chiller:apint::banana:


Hey guys,come along EVERY FRIDAY NIGHT to Strata (post-grad cafe) up at Level 4 of the Kate Edgar Commons. Should be a fun hang out/chill out after a week of uni drudge. They don't care if you are post-grad or not and will not check. Really comfy couches too :yes:

When: Every Friday at 4pm
What: TGI Fridays at Post Grad for cheap piss and good company
Where: Strata (post-grad cafe) up at Level 4 of the Kate Edgar Commons
Why: Good chance to chill out after a week of work/uni and catch up with people that you would only otherwise see on rides or talk to on kb


Speights = $3
Macs Gold, Monteiths = $4
Nachos = $5
Garlic Bread = $3


No you don't have to be a club member and yes this place makes Shadows (the other uni bar) look like a ****hole - couches, rooftop/balcony outdoor thing, no ridiculously loud music, and they do food/coffee

I have asked and they are fine with us not actually being post-grads, or even students. aslong as we don't cause trouble it's all sweet.

as for next friday, we can do it at my place but i think we'll have to all leave by 6:30pm - got to go out for a family dinner thing, and by family i mean the WHOLE family which for us is a very rare occurance so there's no working around this one

next friday, however, i might actually be having a proper party so that should make up for it

so the next several fridays are at my place, if you get too pissed i have a couch and a spare bed available plus a comfy floor and secure parking - don't want you riding drunk - plus i may be having a party this friday and again the next or the one after

my location: 20-30 minutes from uni depending on traffic

the easiest way to find me: about 10 minutes from the motorway.
just get off the north western motorway at lincon rd, head all the way to the end of lincon road, at the end (big intersection with 5 roads) turn right onto swanson rd. then turn left at the next lights onto sturges rd. and follow that to the end, through several roundabouts and out of the suburbs with a nice set of twisties at the end - then turn left onto candia rd and i'm the first driveway on the right about 50 metres away so keep your eyes open

PROTIP: some genius programmed the light phasing on lincon rd so if you travel at 65-70kph you will get all greens. note the limit there is 50kph and west auckland has more than it's fair share of unmarked cops, especially on a friday night and especially on that main road.
ALSO: there are some faster ways to my place, but unless you've done them before and/or are confident on dangerously damaged road surfaces just stick to the suburbs

Remember parking is free after 6 boys! Those pay and displays don't mean a thing after 6 :). But that means it's sometimes hard to grab a park, Princes st is your best bet and just hope someone's leaving about that time.

turns out now that i'm not picking him up

but before telling me i decided to wash my bike jacket as i wouldn't be needing it for 36 hours....

so now i've got a soaking jacket to ride into uni with, or a car that needs maybe $5 petrol each way, a $40 WOF and upwards of $6 parking which i'll have to re-pay every 90 minutes until 6pm

was hoping to go to town tonight too....


ok, so my plan is to try to find a spare jacket lying around somewhere, ride in and not drink too much so i can get home by 8, or sit at home twiddling my thumbs till a mate picks me up around 8 or 9

Haha yeah at low speeds if they adjust themselves at all it's like woah hold on! Hmmm I know it's prob not the best thing to do, but I take it really nice and slow, allow for braking and cornering and the such, and yeah, seems to be going ok :). It just makes things so easy going to uni etc! Legally it's just the same as breaking the 70k limit on your learners right!

You can get a good single colour paint-job using just spray cans. They just decided to make it multi-colour to make it look cool.

Besides, a spray-gun is only good in the hands of someone who knows how to use it. Plus it has to be a reasonable good one as well, running off a decent compressor, so you get a constant amount of air, instead of having to paint in small burst because the compressor can't keep up.

Yep definitely, just have a look at the black on my bike, pretty damn sweet I think! As it was 4 coats as opposed to 1 coat of red.
