Looking for new or (good) used piston for 87 (first version) yamaha FZR1000. Standard or any oversize.
Was just about ready to refit the cylinder block, making sure the ring gaps were in the right place and...found a piece of ring land broken between the comp rings. Bugger shit!!! Judging by the wear pattern it's been broken for a while. I've had a look at the Wiseco catalog but they only list a complete set, of 4, probably a bargain at $US680 odd but my son doesn't have that sort of money available. Anyone know of any other sources of NOS pistons? Already tried Ebay.

Bugger Pete. This bike doesn't want to be rebuilt does it!

Try Rocket Industries (http://www.rocketindustries.com.au/) in Australia.

They are agents for Arias pistons who list the FZR1000 amongst others in their range.

Here's the catalogue:

I have no idea of prices but hopefully they may do one piston.

Thanks Kickaha, that would be great. This one is a pre-Exup but I'm really reluctant to abandon it - the rest of the bike is in really great condition and I've just replaced the transmission with a six speed from an FZ750, so with that and the gasket set, we're already $6-700 in the hole. (6 speed just dropped right in)
