A motorcyclist on Sunday fell more than 300 feet into a mine shaft in northwestern San Bernardino County, California.
Search and rescue teams from the Kern County area had not made contact with the motorcyclist after exploring about 300 feet down the shaft, owned by the Silver Dollar Mining Company , officials said.
Fire and sheriff's personnel were at the scene along with federal Bureau of Land Management officials. A search and rescue team from the Barstow area that specializes in mine rescues also had been dispatched to the scene, officials said.
