my bike's standard (gasgas sm50), and it'll do about 90km/hr. when i get a new sprocket, it should hit 100.

My polini GP3 39.8cc will pull just over 100km with the current geraing but I have just got a 50kit for it and a new 11 tooth front sprocket (current is 10) so should do a fair bit more soon.

Got a 6port BZM coming was quicker then waiting for the polini kit to come in even tho I know you said the BZM had a flat spot ...New 50 kit, gearbox side plate and seal new clutch plate and bell new 11 tooth, gasket kit, chain and thinking about bearings ...umm may as well be a new engine lol poked a few $K into it hopefuly it all works out ok...

BZM will pull hard of bottom STD but will it have the top end power that open needs will be the question.
Will be running a 50cc polini up this week and then my cylinder on the flowbench, will let you know how each goes and approx HP for them, might even throw some pics up on here 4 you.

I'll be trying the 17.5mm Dell carb first then the 19mm to see the difference.... it's also not running a standed polini pipe it's also BZM and a stuffed crank not a 6.2 crank that most of the "05 GP3's came with being a Duke rep they came with upgraded internals but not sure if it's going to make a difference to the end result... I have refitted the 17.5 carb to the 40 and it's bout the engine back to life I keeped up with loosie for a few laps until his corner speed out ran mine... Keep me posted on ya results ..

here you go Gadgit, this is a polini ported cylinder.

the owner doesn't want me to say what flow rates we have got out of it and I can understand as there is alot of coin involed in a project like this. you wouldn't see anyone with a china made cylinder doing this.
this cylinder has had main/secondards tested booster and exhaust and we have found some very interesting results.

When I run mine up I will post results as I'm not shy.

still working on a couple of projects for me when time is avaiable.
there is going to be a return to open class BUT this time the game is going to be alot higher, new one off parts, alot more power. Over the last year or so my bike has come second to customers and I end up trying to get ready night before and it doesn't work.
this time the BZM will be a killer.

If you need help with your setup, let me know and will point you in right direction.

I used to have a 110cc mini chopper modified to do 120kph.

Also a 90cc prototype custom turbo'd pit bike that would do 140kph.

Gadgit
10th April 2008, 21:05
Yea I have knoticed your bike came second to other ventures... always rushing to get it together on race day... I'll throw mine toghther and see how it goes (gaskets are cheep) then go from there... you may see the engine in the post one of these days ... might invest the money from my stolen bike into flowing the Duke...

50cc... easy try the Kreidler @ 210kph and that was in 1965 :devil2:

Gadgit
10th April 2008, 21:17
I't's not all about top end...... it's how fast you can get there.... Polini 910 GP3 Duke Rep 39.8cc 5 port 2 stroke 0-100km/h in 4 sec.... lets see thats better then most large displacement production engines....

I would say most of these boys would need nappies if they rode a open bike.

I weigh 95kg and could get 85kph out of my old Malaguti 50cc.

Still too slow!

My Chinese 50cc scooter has a speedo that indicates up to 90. I've had it past that on a very slight slope.

On the flat, 80kph

My weight is around 100kg.

Gadgit how is 14% increase in air flow sound?
We have found a couple of areas that respond very well, owner will let us know in about two and half weeks when cylinder gets back to his country.
it will be a jet and looking forward to getting mine on bench- open or other mod classes could be a whole lot different in future.

Gadgit
14th April 2008, 12:16
Sounds like a good increase there Orange... international customer aye..hitting the big boys back pockets lol.. Yea I'd like to see the open engines really opened up, so far most of us are just bolting on HP (apart from yourself and Bretts old GRC)

Story goes that no.46 is worked also.
What about the euro collector's new bike?
That might be your problem the cards are againist you?
Let us know how BZM goes, you still running 40 pipe? I think i have drawings somewhere 4 polini gp3 50cc pipe now that might help!

Gadgit
16th April 2008, 07:42
Seen both the blue gp3'S side by side at Edgecoumbe a few weeks back. In a straight line Johns bike has more poke then Lossies gearing the same and John would be round 20kg heavier. But back in the day when both these were newly fitted with 50kits Johns bike always had the edge over loosies, must have just been a better match up.
From what I have been told I'm not running the 40 pipe it should be a BZM pipe same as Johns... and I'm inclined to beleve it as it dosn't fit in the chassie, rubs on both the bottom of the seat and the carb and both sides of the chassis it's just too big for my mini frame lol. But conferming it would be good...
