View Full Version : Valve clearance for an old 85 DR250?

Anybody got any idea as to what they should be. Presumably the same as the 82-85 (almost 100% sure there were no changes to the motor over that period), possibly up till 89ish. I know the DR has the same head as a GN, but would the clearances be the same? (IN: 0.03-0.08mm , EX: 0.08-0.13mm for a GN)

Anybody?

Are the valves the same size as the GN, if the head is similar? Probably same clearances -- I know even between the 250RS and XL250 (26hp vs 20hp, different cams, valve sizes, compression ratio) they used same clearances so meh.

At the end of the day it's down to how hot it gets, innit. Wouldn't be a meaningful difference between the GN and DR in that respect.

as far as i know and can tell by inspection, the heads are exactly the same (and are direct swaps), cams may be different

Have just checked the Suzuki manual for the DR and the clearances are exactly what you have given in post #1.

hi, i have a DR 250 too, but i dont have the manual, and cant find it anywhere.
so, i use the XR 92' clearance valve, but the engine starts to sound like a multiprocessor.
Katman, you say that you check the manual for this bike, can you send me it, please? at least the valve and the wiring diagram, please, i really need it.
thanks in advance.

The manual that I have on disc is 150MB and I am too stupid to know how to compress it so that it wouldn't take two days to email to you. If someone can enlighten me I'd be happy to send it.
