You'll never do the coro in 6 hours, not even a half coro, taking the perfectly straight roads (SH2) to get to thames and back is 230k....

at 100kph on the main highways it'd take like 4 hours tops

but that'd be a waste of petrol

going the fun way they could spend 6 hours getting to kaiauia for lunch and motorway back (or vice versa)

I am tempted to ride to Thames then back SH2 and ride back SH1...but going to Kaiaua sounds good - not been there for a while. Well I am gonna assume the learner guys will not be doing 100km/h so for the ride to take up to 6 hours will give a good indication that they gonna have to have the strength stamina for the ride.

The Kaiaua route is pretty, you can also go home from Kaiaua via the back roads (Kaiaua rd and Hunua road) if you have spare time and want some more twisties. Otherwise the motorway route is good and straightfoward at the end of a ride if oyu are tired.

there is nothing nana about going legal. nanas can save the fine money to buy shiny new pipes to bling bling their gns.

That's where I am going wrong... Wait, I have a shiny pipe!

Second Squiggles. You're dreaming Motorb if you reckon you could do the half loop in 4 hrs main highways or not. My best time with a lunch break and petrol stops is around 5hrs-5.5hrs - not that I am the fastest or anything. Anyway, these guys have sussed out a new route so not relevant anymore.

EJ can be our cameraman, like what he did in Huia trip.

You gotta get Knee armour or proper pants to protect your nice legs just in case :D

There is short legged small size pants now in Wild West Honda, do you wanna go and have a look at it? It should be $150.

Ummm yea planning to do it same time as coro. Maybe Coro group can meet us at uni after ride? Assuming we gonna finish in similar time ???

Now it's bit of problem...
Remember we are planning to do little trip to Huia sometime between 3-5JULY to take 0-100kmh Vids? Can we do both rides done in same week?

Should be intense, the runways are not flat, they are rough as (or at least, were last time i saw them), and i doubt you'd be allowed to do such a thing there... it is an airbase, it will be operational while we are there...

Ah, jealous. Coro loop is lots of fun on a 250 -- lots of variation, from fast sweepers where you're full throttle and crouched over the bars, to tight twisty stuff where you're scraping pegs at 30kph (no really! The 15kph recommended speed for a few corners is no joke!).

I'll be over in Aus by then, and my dear RS will probably still be in Holeshot getting the tank fixed.

Have fun!

In other news, i started the fxr. I'll charge the batt but i think it'll be a lost cause, it was reading 2.8volts, and i think thats why the gauges were going a bit crazy with it idling (constantly resetting due to low voltage perhaps?)

It needs that tank to be sealed once and for all, as its leaking petrol all over the electrics, which is a definate no no

(i was looking around. i believe there's a vtr model out there - prob the big engine ones - with a big, one piece, fairing. it covers teh front and part of teh sides). i figured it's an investment worth looking into. it looks good and by teh time i can afford it (nto sure of price yet tho), i will have hopefully gotten through the "dropping phase" of biking!

good luck fitting that! it'd be WAY too big

*awww lookie! it made friends!*

(or it's all part of honda's righteous scheme to rid the world of the suzuki infidels - i bet they don't even know it's there, already the gixxer seems to have disappeared:shifty:)

you don't suppose there's an alternative bikini frame that'd do a similar job to that of the firestorm then do you? all long term stuff tho, obviously. would want to invest time into finding that, a nice belly pan, and a nicer headlight - maybe change it to a double rather than the single big blob... would look a bit nicer i think.

Man the yellow is so cool and stands out from, the rest....yeah screw the Suzuki's....I think it was the pack of TL's following the Honda:2thumbsup Just looks like in the film shows where you have the main star riding a nice coloured bike while the baddies all ride black and the same model bikes..and then the Honda takes out all the TL's and kaboom they go and only the honda left..

takes a 1/4 mile to get a gn up to speed :msn-wink: or if its mine it'll do it in less, but you have to lean the mixture to the point of burning valves and it'll make it to 110 two up

It takes that long to get up to 100? And bits fly off? Man, even my XS250 can beat that, and its pitiful.

Of course you'll have to get it started, but once its running its fine.

Had to be bump started yesterday when I was leaving uni, :P, decided not to take it in today even though it started under the electric start with no real fuss. Will see if it starts again tonight.

It was really good weather so I went to get Fish and Chips all the way to Kaiaua today!

Took waterfront way to Howick, then whitford road to Clevedon, then to Kaiaua!

Road were pretty dry but few in few places mud and all sorts of stuff in road.
Few places there were road works and road condition were pretty bad as well.

Theres that famous twisty bits between Cleverdon to Kaiaua with moss on the side and centreline of the road, I went there really slow. Keep it in 2nd didnt do anything stupid. I let so many biker pass me there, geez they went like 4times faster than me!

After that it was good fun through all the corners (I let many bikers pass me there too haha).

Overall I thought it can be done as Learner ride but gotta take everything really slooooooooooooooooooooooow. Especially that twisty bits coz so many crap on the road. Also its gotta be done when its Sunny and roads are dry too!

I was bit tired so took SH2 and 1 back home (It was suppose to be easy ride but something wrong with my carbs so sitting in 5-6k makes bike really jerky)

I thought we could do here as L-plate ride sometime when others are doing Coro. Again, roads gotta be dry and nice weather tho.

It was good fun :D

Hi all, Guess I am the only active n00b in SMC but I thought to make thread like this would be useful.

The purpose of this thread is for those Learner riders in SMC to post when they want to do practice in car parks with senior members of SMC.

For places to practice refer: http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?t=54559

So, what you think guys? Is it gonna be useful at all?????

if wheelies become part of the agenda the SMC learner rides will no-longer be.

Nah, remember what they said, they only had to tell us ta bugger off because we pissed off the neighbours by basing ourselves in the one corner with houses...

I've been thinking about the rule for the Slow Race thing.

DA RULEZ

Ofcourse it will be unfair or may even crate a chaos if we compete all against each other (Different skills and bikes etc), so I thought of a method...

Duel: Head to head, 1:1 slow race
Championship: Climb the ladder and be the top slow racer, Starts with 1:1 battles.
Time Attack: Record beating, it's a single race, preferably all competitors should use the same bike (if someone could donate their bike...)
Practice: Just practice

The Stage
There will be two stages, Up Hill and Down Hill (If we are going to do it in the Unitec Campus). Well it is because Up Hill and Down Hill are very different, Trust me on this, Up Hill slow race is quite hard.

The layout should be similar to below:
<img src="http://img80.imageshack.us/img80/7244/slowracelx8.jpg"></img>

Five lanes (or more) carpark, riding along the center line (riding out of the line of 30-50cm acceptable both sides). If it is a duel (1:1 battle), then each rider must ride within their column (1 carpark width).

Da Rulez

Both feet must be on the pegs before the front wheel of the bike leaves the start mark:
<img src="http://img515.imageshack.us/img515/24/slowrace1gr3.jpg"></img>

<img src="http://img528.imageshack.us/img528/2220/slowrace2rc5.jpg"></img>

And lastly (Pics will explain):
<img src="http://img368.imageshack.us/img368/7104/slowrace3ca1.jpg"></img>
<img src="http://img264.imageshack.us/img264/9655/mfsc2cj6.jpg"></img>

If you drop your bike, put any of your limbs down (Including knee) or riding off bounds will be an instant disqualification. Also no smart actions such as riding in a tight circle or others that I cannot think of is not acceptable.

Anyone wants to make any correction?

Yeah I dunno, overnight could be cool... Do half loop and pull out at Pauanui, then next day finish down past Whanga and under the bottom then back up towards Auck.

muriwai beach is far from short

over half an hour at about 80kph (flat tack) on a dirtbike - from one end to the other. an hour for the return trip.

and i wouldn't dare take my sprotsbike out there - salt water, hard sand with soft holes and soft sand in general... damage to paintwork from being sandblasted the whole way....

might be ok for a naked, but a big no-no on an expensive machine with any tendency at all to get into a tankslapper... unless you're a brave rider with a big wallet of course...

oh, and had my only bike vs car accident there too.

oh, and if the cagers aren't trying to kill you by running you over, they like to string up fishing lines across the beach without any flags, leave the reel by their wheel so it's nicely hidden (and on the opposite side of the vehicle too), and then they get angry at you when you come over asking for a first aid kit and ride to the nearest A&E because your mate just had his neck torn open by the fucking fishing line.
(note to all kite fisherman out there - don't set up withi 1km of a bike park, set you reel behind your car, and have the line covering 75% of the beach at head height. i will come over and beat you)
