MONDAY 7th JULY Ride to RAGLAN (SH22) or Ride on The Coro LOOP (we will decide on the day)

Meeting 10:30am BP Autobahn

Expected return time 4 - 5 pm.

All welcome

Hey everyone, my exams are all finished (coz I'm in Massey :p) and I now have plenty of time for riding during the week for the next 4 weeks.

So if anyone is keen for a ride on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday or Saturday (those the days I have off work) flick me a pm or post here  and we can go for a pootle. Long or short I dont care.

Also if there are some new bikeys out there and want to go somewhere for a short ride or in some car park doing daughnuts, figure eights or emergency stopping practice I'm all in. I need some refreshing of the skills too.

I'm on the shore but I ride all over the auckland area so if you are keen , send me a PM or post here.

P.S. i'm busy this thursday helping a friend go for his learners on a bike but apart from that I'm gonna be riding around ;)

I love the TXTs I get just before we go on a ride:

"I got to go Ice skating now so I'm not comming..."

"Hey we are all drunk so we cant ride..."

"I just woke up and got hangover and cant be bothered..."

"I cant ride, I'm shagging the dog..."

It must be the same kind of excuses GiJoe gets when he asks the kids why they haven't done their english homework .... ::spanking:

Big ups to Dakara for joining coming along for a quest into the unknown.
we were chatting around waiting for all of you lazyes to arive and from word to word found out Mr. Dakara has never done Coro loop before and seeing that noone else could be bothered to come for an adventure we decided to change the plan and head for the coro instead.

All was nice , we went trough miranda rd and had a bit of fun there, then on to kopu to gas up at the mobil and the Gas girl couldn't take her eyes off Dakaras' but while he was gassing up. I didnt tell him coz I didnt want to brak his riding concentration and causing him to bin. Anyhow we went nicely along the coast , saw the view, enjoyed the sweepers. Just came to coromanderl and we were told by firefighters and Police that ROAD IS CLOSED due to a crash. The much respected Westpack helicopter crew were there to lift the poor injured soul to hospital. hope s/he makes it. Anyhow we decided that there is no way we gonna wait for 3 hours on our bums and we gonna do Kawawa instead.

on to kaiawa and we went trough some cold cold rain :cold:. So cold it took me a while to find Mr. Spike when I went to take a piss. Anyhow , rain stopped as we pulled in the Kaiawa Fisheries for some fish and chips and a Mehga burger for Dakara. :D There were a few kids admiring the bikes, and there was one woman who clearly was nuts. She kept asking questions and not surprisingly she also liked matt's butt and even asked who was "Quasimoto". Dakara showed me some nice lines on kaiawa from which I learned and I am dedicated to go practice those again soon :niceone:

Just got into Auckz and it was only like 3:20 and we are both young free spirited sould and such as we are and also harcore bikers we decided he havent had enough of cold air and enogh adrenaline we decided to jump on SH16 and see how that goes.

Some fancy lane splitting past annoyed cagers, and mums preocupied with their scoolboys and girls to look at the road and we found ourselver in Riverhead. kept a close eye on the speedo as we were not sure if it was Mr.-Ginger-Beer-Delivery-Boys' day off but who said you cant have fun with the legal speed. Try do most of the corners at 100 and it is quite adventurous. off we ren up on SH16. We saw the sunset on our bikes - that was a majic moment. Some more sweepers and in to Wellsford to warm up.

Came back down via SH1 and back home. Total of about 550k we did today and those of you who didnt come and made excuses should be sorry. You missed out on quite alot of fun. Primo Day :2thumbsup

We could be Going for a ride on thursday again , depending on weather and other stuff. Keep an eye on the first post of this thread for Updates on Weekday rides.

TOTO over and out.

Hahaha! +1 for the writeup! Although I would of rathered not knowing where those gassies were looking :stoogie:

Tripo was showing just under 530k's from Autobarn till when we parted on the motorway, so yea, 550 all up sounds about right! Which officially makes it the most time spent on 2 wheels for me in a day :2thumbsup

As for the old Woman at Kaiawa, "Who's Quasimoto?" I hope she was just reading my gear else Quasi may have a secret admirer

Now, I need a beer!

You can trust me. Last thing I knew you blasted off somewhere yelling something from westgate, I rode all the way to helensville in torrential rain to find you. Then turned around and rode back in sunny conditions, i then waited at westgate for twenty min then went to mission bay and did a little ride by myself. Don't worry you don't have to be a babysitter bro, solo riding isn't half bad :baby:.

As for excuses, maybe I'm not hard enough to have a blast through really bad conditions, or maybe it's just my self preservation instinct kicking in. The new tire is good, the bike doesn't slide and is good in the wet now, unlike the death machine it used to be.

Today was not good riding conditions, i rode through a fuckload of rain and heavy winds in the arvo. Oh and my exhaust heatshield fell off the bike while i was riding, i fixed it on the side of the road though. Have fun on sh22, you and isaac can ride and be crazy together, I didn't fuck off for no apparent reason bud.

You can take SH 16 up to Kumeu, turn off to the coast hit Bethels beach, then cruise along Scenic drive out to Piha and back along Scenic drive to Titarangi village for lunch at Hells Pizza. That would be a solid 2-3 hr ride and some of the best cornering practice you can get.

definetly keeps the wind and water from coming in thru all the zippers, but having thermals etc i was pretty warm anyway :p

yea , i'd rather you replace the drifting tyre ay. do some burnout and get rid of it

O , just remembered Dushi. hey Dushi, did you hate the treesome we had on the motorway so much that you decided to go blasting at 133kmh in the wet windy weather , next to the cheesecutters ? Take it easy around those things bro - I've heard they can hurt you pretty badly. :shit:

My speedo was reading 110!, i'm confused..hey choco we need to do some motorway roll ons and see what the error on my speedo is, it just tends to read whatever the hell it feels like. Sometimes 70 is 80 etc.

As for the coro loop it was FUCKING AWESOME, I did my OWN pace and had a freaking ball. Those corners are just gorgeous in the dry. Keen to hit it again on the next dry day. Kopu hill in the rain with heavy winds and zero visibility was fun  *not*

A BIG THANKS TO TOTO, FOR ORGANISING THE RIDE, HE HAS HE:PED BOOST MY CONFIDENCE NOW I"M BACK ON TWO WHEELS. BIG UPS TO YOU MY BROTHER.

I got a speedohealer on my bike which I can recalibrate my speedometer if I change sprocket size or tyre size. Cool item...I did read that every bike speedometer out of the factory floor has an error of about 5% or even up to 10%.

That might be your problem or it could be that the weather is so cold that you cannot feel your hands that you did not realise you are turning the throttle more than usual. Check your throttle cables to see if they are sticking etc.

So when's the next one? Obviously not this sunday because it's gonna be bucketing down and after doing the coro loop in the rain once, while a great experiance, is not really something you'd enjoyably repeat.

I'm in with a grin for the next one..

Yep, put my Oggys to test on the Hornet a few months back. Saved her from an insurance write off... Don't get cheap ones, they are likely to bite into the tarmac and flip your bike or snap off bits of the frame / engine.

Just got back.

The ride was.... interesting to say the least. I got there, and by 10.30 it was just me and my mate.

So we perused the map for a bit, and off we go. Got a tad lost and ended up at a Mobil at Pukekohe. After fueling up (again), I perused the map again, and asked the station staff if that was indeed the right way. She told me 'Yes, but be careful, watch out for the black ice on the road!

I thought "There ain't no way there's gonna be ice! It's nearly noon!".

Boy was I wrong. There wasn't much ice, but there sure as hell was a fuckload of fog all up SH22. It was so bad I couldn't see 50m even. Was very glad I wore my extra layer. However my pants had a rip on the right knee from my Port Waikato off so that was a bit unplesant with the cold air blasting in through there :(. We took it cautiously through there, and after almost 80km of thick-fog-slippery-roads riding, we got to the Waingaro Rd turnoff where we stopped briefly (my left side wing mirror came loose so I had to break out the onboard tool kit). We took some photos as well (Should be posting these shortly).

We then continuted towards hamilton along SH1. Boring and straight  Finally hit Hamilton, pulled into the BK and began chomping when I saw a couple more bikers (One on a the new Ninja and the other on a KTM of some sort) pull in too. Nodded at them etc :headbang:

And that was it really, after eating took SH1 North, back home.
