This article outlines why you should never buy those off the shelf additives for your engine... (http://www.minifinity.com/distribution/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=4515)

Ok, yes it's old but still very relevant.

Don't waste your money on additives because ......Read my signature......

(Stay with one good oil and don't mix with anything else)

erm ok.. one nutshell just for your McJim ;)

Most of the additives contain Teflon 'flakes' which are designed to 'stick' to metal inside your engine and thus reduce friction and keep everything lubed. But... these flakes build up a heck of a lot quicker everywhere else and long term will actually clog your oil passages, reduce oil flow and actually make your engine wear faster.

Also, these 'flakes' just go straight into your filter and clog it up.

Oh and oils are designed to work great by themsleves - you add other chemicals and its like a cake mix, oil has 2 eggs and cake is fine but additives have an extra 4 eggs giving you a very sticky cake.

oh just read the wholel blimin thing!!!
