I've got a mate whose looking to sell a virtually brand new HP Pavilion laptop. He bought it for his sister but now she wants a Mac

Specs are as follows:

2.1GHz dual-core AMD processor.

2Gigs Ram.

160Gig Hard-drive.

Dual-layer DVD reader/writer.

Gigabit ethernet card, and a built in wireless card.

15.4" widescreen.

Built in bluetooth.

Geforce 8400 graphics card, offering 256MB of dedicated RAM.

Built in Webcam

It also comes with a remote that can be used when listening to music/watching movies.

Its currently running Windows Vista Ultimate but my mate has offered to chuck XP on it if you dont like Vista

It looks something like this:

He's looking to get $1200 for it, if anyone's interested let me know.

Dad just bought the exactly same laptop, paid about $1500 bucks.

Reckon if he drop it down to $1000 it'd be a good buy.

Do the specs of his match this one exactly?

Im not 100% sure on this price he paid, but i think the price he wants is fair considering they've had it less than a month and she never really used it.

I can get you a good deal on Macs......

prices may vary depending on specs Ewen usually memory and HDD size are different and warranty some come with 1 year or 3 years...you pay more you expect to get more....

I think the best price on this was around $1800 when I looked at it 3 months ago, so $2000 isn't out of the way. Vista Ultimate , webcam, dedicated graphics, the HP lappie I bought for $1700 doesn't have those.

Anything close to $1000 would be a good deal provided HP will honour the warranty.

being the nerd I am, its definetely worth $1200, assuming they keep vista ultimate.

Vista ultimate alone cost $300, with XP $1000 is a good estimate. The fact it has a dedicated 8400 rather than just on board graphics is also quite nice

a grand would fit nicely onto the course related costs....

though i'm not surprised vista drove her to mac:msn-wink:

myself i'm looking at buying as asus eeepc for checking email/KB etc when at uni and in the shed, plus i could use it to control robots rather than pissing around with chips and excess circutry:D

but for a grand, that hp does sound good...

Eeepc's are fucking great.

yeah, vista is fine, but you have to know how to set it up. If you don't set it up, it just annoys the piss out of you

I have a install disk for Windows Server 2008 that I can lend to anyone who is interested - why settle for a $200 operating system when you can have a >$1000 operating system? ;)
