with this it may be possible...

It may not sound much different that a weed-whacker, but I can assure you that if this 1/6 scale replica of the 1964 Corvette L76 327 cubic-inch V8 was put into a tiny car, it would give a Leprechaun the ride of it's life. The mini four-stroke engine was fabricated from scratch by a guy named Jim Moyer, and it can hit a staggering 11,000 RPM when opened up. Impressive.

You can buy even smaller ones for 1/4 scale rc cars, look up 'Conley V8' on youtube.

I think this blown one is impressive... (not 1/4 scale)

Hmm probably the beer I just had but if is is a exact scale replica - ie scaled down bore and stroke etc how come it revs to 11k when a full size one would explode if it got anywhere near that? Less stress on the scaled engine?

Nah - definitely a blank up here

Yes a 60's all American designed pushrod V8 with cast iron block+heads would fly to bits..

But a small scale model made from good quallity alloy and probably a lot more quality/precision and lighter parts probably could... Just a thought.

I like this V12 model aircraft engine

Takes him a while to get it going but sounds cool

Must be worth a fortune

Not quite the sound of a 27L Rolls Royce Merlin, but very impressive!

length of stroke generally decides max revs - ie, the pistons cover far less distance in given time - so a big stroke at low rpm has the same piston velocity as small stroke at high rpm. then of course there's a lot less momentum changing direction etc etc

plus gases/friction/etc don't really scale the same... i doubt this motor wouldn't be as powerful (per unit mass) as a 50cc two stroke

not that 11000rpm is actually very impressive.... IL4 250 will get 20000rpm and it's got much heaviar parts flying around (albeit with heavier parts keeping it together)... heck even an fxr150 reds at 12500!
