Hi all,

My violin performance exam is coming up soon and if you are wondering why I dont ever play violin at strata come and check how bad I play
http://www.facebook.com/home.php?ref=logo#/event.php?eid=38237017037

When: 10th Nov 11AM
Where: School of Music, 6 Symonds St

Cost: Free!

Program:
Vivaldi : "Winter" from the four seasons
Grieg: Violin Sonata no.1
Piazzolla: Cafe 1930 and Nightclub 1960 from Histour du Tango

Concert Etiquette:
Turn your mobile and other electronic devices that make noise OFF(INcluding watches!).

Only applause between the pieces, not movements. (so there should be three applauses in concert. If you never been to classical concerts and dont know what to do? Just stay quiet and follow what others do! LOL)

Be quiet while I'm playing (no name call, no whistle, nothing!)

Because this is an exam, you can not enter between pieces so if you can not get to School of music by 11am, don't bother to come in because you will miss whole thing.

Hope to see some of you there ;)

Stop it before it ruins your self esteem. Over time you'll talk yourself into a hole. It's BS and you know it.

If I was in Auckland I'd be there with bells on.

Break a leg.

A violin performance thread on KB? Suzuki method perhaps?

Joking aside, I hope you do well. Nice programme selection. I enjoy Piazzolla hugely.

I do too. I didn't used to think I meant it either. I've really f__ked up my life talking like that.

If you are going to be a performer you have to purge any trace of a negative self image and false modesty and honestly present your skills and capabilities. There is no room for self pity, mock or otherwise.

Yui , thank you for the privelage to watch you play.

You were amazing. What came to my mind is because you are soo good , you should combine your music with your riding. What I mean is , we take vide of you riding , then record you play some cool stuff like today and then put them both together. And that how we get a star :D (I taught of that :blip:)

Thank you again. I'm amazed at your skills, and I could see your mum also soo happy and proud. It was definately your day today

You deserve a prize :first:

Hehe in Orchestra there are always "Viola Joke" coz violist tend to have easier parts than everyone else and stereotypical way to them "they are playing Viola coz they are not good enough to play violin :p" (If there are any Violist here I apologise in advance but this is general perception of non-violist orchestra member)

Well Done :wari:Banzai, Now is it time to relax or do you have more exams?

Yep, no more exams!!!!

But gotta do job hunt now but I can have fun as well. Holiday FTW! :headbang:

how can viola be that much easier than violin? isn't it just the same thing but smaller?

BANZAI

It's bigger than Violin. Its not easy to play the actual instrument but what they have in their parts in orchestra is usually easy accompanying lines :p

Violas are awesome. We had 5 in my school orchestra.... but the year i left so did 4/5 of the viola players, mostly overseas.

If it can't be played in a marching band, then it's not an "instrument".

half the violas ive ever heard never pass the "scratchy as shit" phase though, where when played they sound like rocks being thrown into a box of helpless devil cats...

and then the other half are really brilliant.

its like mussels, you love them or you think they suck

yeah violas are mussels

Violas are awesome, my sister learnt it for a couple of years and I had a bit of a play on it, the sound is so much deeper than a violin, very nice!
