MotoGP's rule makers, the FIM, have confirmed that riders will only have 20 dry-weather tyres to use for the whole of a race weekend during the 2009 season and there will be no qualifyers.

In an effort to bring down costs, Bridgestone will only make four of each compound front slicks and six of each compound rears available to each riders, and there are only two compounds.

There is only one compound of wet tyre and only four will be made available for front and rear, making eight in total. These rules apply to all practice, qualifying, warm-up and race sessions.

However, a clause in the rules states that Bridgestone can provide an extra set of wets to each riders if race direction deems it necessary because of weather conditions.

Tyres will be individually allocated to each riders to prevent team-mates using each other's rubber and teams will not be able exchange tyres with Bridgestone unless race direction gives permission.

Crew chiefs will not be able to manufacture cut-slicks for drying tracks as any tampering with tyres has been banned unless Bridgestone deem it necessary safety reasons and they will make the alterations to every rider's tyres.
