I have started taking photo's when doing jobs that I don't expect to complete within a couple of hours, and since the amount of documentation on the 250 ('93) GSF is pretty woeful I'm going to post up a mini guide of how to get the valve cover off.

Bear in mind a couple of steps are probably missing and I don't want to be responsible for any fuck-ups, so use this guide at your own discretion =)

1. Here im removing the breather hose. At this point I have already removed the fuel tank, seat and side panels, and unclipped the pipes and hoses from around the air filter box.

2. Undo left bolt and the 'clip' from the filter box

113865
3. Right bolt

113866
4. Left coil ref photo

113867
5. Remove this pipe

113868
6. Remove this carb temperature thing.

113870
8. Undo these bolts to remove radiator cap assembly

113871
9. Uhh... Hopefully this is clear enough..

113872
10. Which hose goes where ref photo

113873
11. Throttle cable assembly

113874
12. How I removed said assembly

13. Almost there

113876
14. Had to undo this to get clearance.

113877
15. The manual says use a rubber hammer... In the end we resorted to a real hammer and a block of wood but BE CAREFUL!

113878
16. And done!

Hi all, newbee from Belgium, question about this particular valve cover.

Unscrewed all 8 bolts from cover, does not come lose, not with soft aid of rubber mallet, nor more rude banging with shizzle and steel hammer. Do I need to undo the bolts over the camchaincover too? Indeed, no manual, just trying to check valve clearance of my just bought '94 GSF 250 with 63k on the clock.

Looking forward to all suggestions.

Greets, Raf.

Pretty sure there's no retaining bolts inside the top breather cover.

But - the damm things stick on the water pipes going into the head. Soak the pipes well in some sort of penetrating fluid.
I used an electric heat gun too. The steel pipes corrode which makes them "grow" a little after which they're a pain...

Thanks for the advice. Will try.
