Probably a stupid question, please be gentle!

Could a Suzi RGV/Aprilia RS250 VJ22 vtwin 2stroke 250cc engine be modified into a 500cc engine using a pair of RM250 cylinders and pistons? Assuming the cylinders could possible bolt up to the block (with/without modification) or humour me, custom cylinders...?

Anything is possible. Would need substantial modification to the bottom end. Stroke is not long enough. Bore is 10mm greater, Stroke is 72.0mm compared to 56.0mm

How much money have you got??

Lots of people have shoehorned RG500 motors into VJ22 frames, RG150 barrels fit RG500 motors, why not make yourself a RGV600?

to hell with all that...just get two RG 500 engines, join them together and make a V8 1000cc two stroke.

oh,and lob it into a ducati 1098R rolling chassis.

that should shake the boys up a bit:first:

You'd have to leave the V out as the 500 aint a V.

How about an RZV500 in a 2007 R6 frame with an R1 tail... two down low and two under the tail. Saw some pics of a guy in europe that was doing it... full ohlins/brembos etc as you'd expect too!

Keep it rolling boys, sarcasim, reality checks, advice etc are all welcome :2thumbsup

Where im going with this...I have an Prilly RS with a dud VJ22, I would like to retain this engine because I already own it and it bolts straight in. The bores are knackered and while I could have them replated...the $$$ involved are crazy for a power level that I was getting sick of so I thought maybe repair the engine and get some decent power out of it at the same time. And the added bonus of a custom bike just for shits & giggles.

Final question...
If I could adapt the RM cylinder to fit my block, it would be a case of sourcing (or custom making) the correct length rod that matches up to my VJ crank and the RM piston. ???

Cheers

http://www.twostrokeshop.com/Aprilia_RS500_2008.htmWhat he said... RS250 with a dead motor, there simply is no better option!

If you ain't got the stones for such a job, let me know how much you want for what's left of your RS250

Conversion will cost you a little over $13k.

I think that was in Performance Bikes, too... I love stuff like that.

Havent you still got a big hole where the other cylinder used to bolt up?

why not do the tried and tested thing, with a 300cc conversion kit from Stan Stephens. www.stanstephens.com

check some of the dyno graphs. 74 hp in road trim!!!

I know a really good R6 you can have for 13K!!!

Or you could build a triple, this will eventually be close to a 500cc.

Two old cylinders, two new cylinders...500cc.
Yeah Stan Stephens conversion sounds like a better option than the Cheetah kit...$13k is getting a little silly.
