KTM has announced 300 job cuts. 150 worked in the leasing division and a further ‘core employees’ will be laid off in April. KTM boss Stefan Pierer warned that some employees may have to be moved to part-time work thereafter.
KTM is planning to decrease production by 25 per cent, but expects business to get “slightly better” in 2010, adding that the motorcycle industry was in better shape to survive the recession than the car industry since more people would opt for motorcycles during a recession.
