Does anyone else in auckland think the sky looks abit orange

could be the fires in VIC

It went rather purple here in Mount Wel for a bit there- very interesting!

Yeah very orange, I am guessing sun setting through the smoke?

Yup, heaps of small particles /smoke/ in the atmosphere cause this.

It has done it once before when there were the fires in Aussie
