Recently, two nameless folk have built themselves some track bikes.

Of course, the only problem with having track bikes, is that occasionally you have to take them to the track.

So on a bright Saturday afternoon (well, rather cloudy and slightly drizzley, but I digress), we set off for our first track day.

Of course, being us two, we can't help but run into trouble along the way - how far away is Taupo again? The fuel light has been on for over half an hour...

Luckily we've got this trailering business pretty sussed by now - those bikes are locked down tight!
<img src="http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/picture.php?albumid=1698&pictureid=19486">

After crashing the night at Katman's residence (you're a legend mate, thanks!), we headed off early in the morning to the track, where we scored ourselves a pit.

Hell, who is going to believe we're uni students like this?

It almost looks like we know what we're doing!

The first session was taking it slow and careful for the both of us - first time on the track, our first time at Taupo, and with a soaking wet track we were just learning the corners, as well as where the dodgy repairs/deteriorating track surface was.

Second session saw us picking up the pace a bit. The track was drying out in patches now, but Squiggles was having trouble with his bike's performance in the top end, so was having to use his gears a lot. Third session saw a dry track and the pace picking right up.

Lunch break consisted of a VFR lying in pieces as we checked plugs and spilt petrol on electrics checking that his engine wasn't going to do anything terminal if he kept riding - everything looks fine so that's a go-er.

The last three sessions saw an off into the kitty-litter, a lap of a certain red bike, and just before the final medium/slow group session, a deluge of rain that put a halt to the day's activities.

Fookin' neow!

Of course, we immediately started looking for a unlocked wireless network - it's been nearly eighteen hours sinse we last checked KB! Withdrawal symptoms were clearly setting in - we were nearly enjoying ourselves for crying out loud - this was quickly remedied with a trawl through the site.

Fookin' brilliant day. We're both thoroughly hooked, and will be back for more! Really doesn't make sense to spend about the same amount of money on the Coro, for less enjoyment and more risk.

Ticking down the days until the next Kiwi Track Day - just need to get both the bikes up to a little bit better standard. :niceone:

Track days require a lot more effort though, paying fees, loading trailers and a lot more driving than riding!

Yes. It costs about half a trackday - provided you don't get caught. (Because let's face it, apart from Guzzis (because they're broken) and two fifties (because they can't) everyone I've seen on a Coro loop has exceeded the limits set by our fine and fair government tui at some point on it.

Get caught once and suddenly the trackdays come out cheaper. Particularly so if they're riding around with as many demerits as a certain westie... ;)

That would have required far too much organisation on their part, Stephen did have a hand in the plan making after all...

He was meant to bring it to the chiller! Since he didn't, we weren't going to be spending the four hours required to get out to the godforsaken western suburbs and back (as it was, we still didn't get to sleep until nearly 3am).

We thought we saw your Triple arriving on a trailer, but never got around to wandering by and seeing if it was you - sorry about that!

So it's Andrew's faulty we don't get to see any video footage from your track day. And here he was blaming you guys :oi-grr:
