Drained transmission oil from my DT230 & found these things - it's not metal but a grey rubbery stuff. Any ideas? Thanks

Gasket sealant.

What would dislodge that now? (it's done 17,000 km's)

The only rubber bits would be seals. The primary side seal is a double sided seal - so if the gearbox side is damaged,it could still be sealing on the engine side, and still run ok.The other bearings in the gearbox are ordinary 6000 series brgs, some of these still may have one seal in place....but they are pretty thin seals.

Was it your one that was running a bit funny? I said crank seal then.

My oil was down approx 50ml - but no puddle on the floor.

It was Marks that was running funny.
