Half society's problems originate from when calling a spade a spade became politically (and/or socially) incorrect.

  2. What bike for Mom?

Ok, so I have been thinking.

Anyone else want to show interest in this bike?

Given the history of my attempt to buy it, perhaps an injection of realistic offers might make her more appreciative of the offer I made. Oh, it has now reverted to $8.5k, but she can wait to learn that. Anyone wat to start negotiating with her?

  3. That daily contact

Yes it is true, I am one of those women that ring their Moms everyday, 5pm, Mom o'clock, no longer have to see a clock to know it is time for that call. I never used to mind you, just when she got sick, and seeing as I live so far away, it gave me piece of mind to talk to her everyday. Nothing we can do to prevent her from going home, so she goes home. She scored 30/30 in a cognitive test days before so we all know she is making well thought out choices, they ...

  5. One month minus two days to M day

I am about to turn 50. Imagine me being 50! An email exchange with my Godmother, and I write this...

Mommy is not so well. I believe we are on the home stretch with her now. She is currently in hospital, her 3rd admission in the past 2 months. She weighs in at a massice 30kg as of yesterday! She is still as fiesty and vital as ever, but a bit (read gets very at times) confused, though still very much wanting to be in control of what happens to her. She is still living alone ...

  6. Sage words from a stranger

Little did I know when I received a private message, on a web forum, from a complete stranger, that included these words...

"Break it down as small as you have to to make it maneageable, if you look at the complete picture then it just becomes too daunting and you're crushed by the weight of it. So it's one step, one small thing you try to do at a time.....and somehow things keep rolling along, and you manage to hang on to the last ragged vestiges of yourself when everyone/everything ...
