  1. Uly’s Going Slow

Today hailed the introduction of Police Rodeo riding to the Wgtn Ulysses.

We’d organised the day for a short ride around Whitemans Valley and Moonshine Road for the members while I set up the courses at the Riverbank Carpark and although I intended to get there at 0900, I was a bit early after putting some fuel in, and arrived at 0830. Ron & Sue turned up a minute or two later and we got into it. Starting from the Northern end, Sue & I set up three ‘Shield’ courses at 40% oversize, ...

  2. Riding around Europe Post 15: Brasov to Ruse

Hayden's big band was playing full pelt in my head when I woke next morning. Luckily I had some fruit juice and water and took two panadol to help quell the noise.
I remembered I had made some commitments and it was not until I found the piece of paper in my shirt pocket with all the instructions where to meet at 11am that things became clear or, at least, less cloudy. It was now 9.30. I had to shave, shower , buy some kind of wedding present and find Magda's house.

  3. USA D15: In Banff (30/07/2011)

Woke up before the alarm! Ok, so it was only set for 9am. Ken rang at 8.20am to confirm the late morning tour of the Banff Hotel and buffet lunch we were having today. How to meet, bring the dollars, yep, see you outside on the bikes. Rolled over and went back to bed until 9am

Finally got up, read Mark and Gerry’s blog (http://kiwisridefar.blogspot.com/) and generally wasted time until just after 10am, then getting ready and grabbing the necessary little things.

  4. USA D14: Jasper to Banff (29/07/2011)

Why does the alarm ring at stupid times like 7am? I really should stop doing that, but then, I guess I do need to get cracking, see some scenery, ride some roads and check into a new place. No complimentary breakfast today, so into the Inn’s restaurant for a quick brekkie of cereal and orange juice. Typically, having cleaned the bike the previous day, it had rained during the night, so I dried the bike off.

Back in the room, I thought fuck it, it’s still chilly out, I’ll ...

  6. USA D13: Lillooet to Jasper (28/07/2011)

Today was one of the larger ones, with 380 miles to be covered (around 610km), so the alarm was interrupting my slumber at 6am. Murray was already up, don’t know how he does it.

Took our van bags down to the van and tucked into the complimentary breakfast, which was apricot bran and orange juice. The others were well ahead of me in getting ready, and a chunk of the group left around 7am. I watched them head off, and saw one car pass by the motel completely staring at the gathered ...

  7. USA D12: Victoria to Lillooet (27/07/2011)

An alarm rang at 5.30am. What bastard set that? Mmm, me. Murray was already up, he must have some weird internal clock. Crawling out of bed, I rapidly packed and geared up. The reason for the early start was a ferry. We were bound for the mainland, north again continuing through the province of British Columbia.

Our bikes were parked across two levels, and as I brought it up (not wearing my gloves) the group was already leaving. Not knowing the ferry location (there was some discussion ...

  8. New bling for Cindi

Well, been quite quiet here on the blog front - so to update some details to aid my failing memory as I slide into my dotage!

New rear Angel for Cindi from Drury tyres, also got them to put the new R&G rear axle bobbin gubbins in at the same time.

Thinking what the hey, get right angled valve installed as well (they currently have two of mine in stowage ready for when I change the fronts on Cindi and the Big Ol'Hornet!)

    Also purchased a small "Muc-Off" ...
