  1. First Run

I took the bike to the Vic Club Track Day to have a go at tuning it. Static tuning seemed pretty good. Idled well and reved cleanly etc. Not that it means much in the real world.
Anyway, first session I well out fairly cautious as I didn't know how anything was going to interact.
A big of bogging at lower revs exiting turn 1 that dipping the clutch took care of and away she went though turn 2 and into splash. I now had three things to sort.

  4. Bike jobs

    Hi folks,

So i've been doing a couple of jobs for bikers and thought i'd tell you what i've been up to.

Had a nice chap called Johan call me up about his BMW G650GS, its a pretty cool bike but BMW didn't fit them with a centerstand as a stock part, even though the frame has all the mounting brackets to take the centerstand. But BMW couldn't supply a centerstand for the bike only a regular one which is too short, so Johan got a short one and i took some measurments and ...

  5. Biker chick is back....

As the title says, the biker chick is back. Was away for a while after a wee accident involving the bike, long story short, don't try starting the bike whilst it's in gear. They don't seem to like that! Have myself 2 small fractures in my right tibial plateau Got the all clear to start riding again about a month ago..... so cue, waiting on bank account being healthy (can it ever be) and getting the bike back up and running.

So not having ridden for about 10 months, I'm rusty ...

  6. Fordell 4 Lunch

Today was a Uly ride to Hunterville, via Fordell, which I wasn't going to go on, but maybe I would, but the weather was going to be crappy so I wasn't, and I had heaps of work to catch-up on so I wasn't, and I only managed to mow the front half of the lawns yesterday so I wasn't, and I haven't been to the gym all week so I should have gone to the gym instead so I shouldn't.....then I checked the forecast again this morning and it was really crappy......but it wasn't raining when I looked out the ...

  7. 4. Motorbikes and fuel. What is there to complain about?

I know people have said that motorbikes are fuel efficient. In fact they always say that. And i've never owned a car or a larger vehicle to compare it with. But i'm pretty sure that getting <300km on $14 certainly does fit the description.
It's been 3 weeks now, 3 weeks of riding. I've got 314 km under the belt, a petty amount I know, but it's a start.
My bike has given me the opportunity to work more hours, earning more cash. It outshines the Dunedin bus system by a mile, which ...

  8. 2012 C1KC – Part 2: A Nice Wee Daylight Ride!

Yes well, another one gone and another one gone and another one bites the dust!

The plan for 2012 was to do the Awakino Gorge and around the mountain (ie Mt Egmont/Taranaki), so that's what we did with a few diversions via Mauriceville, Halcombe-Stanway and Aria thrown in for good measure and to provide the 'road-less-travelled' requirement into our mix.

The lead-up for me was to resurrect and check the route out of the archives, since it was an option drawn up 2-3 ...
